5HAD to rate it 5 stars, BUT probably should have rated it 4 stars...
By Alethes
Bottom Line: if you are even thinking about it, BUY THIS HELI.

About me:
I am an adult who is an aviation, technology, and mechanical enthusiast; and as such this unexpected gift is probably responsible for making me a bit irresponsible over the last few days. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! I have flown remote control aircraft previously (helicopters and airplanes) of various shapes, sizes, and complexities so I can relatively objectively assess this helicopter.

What I Like:
*a lot of metal construction making it more durable than many others similar to it
*video camera is what makes this heli what it is
*the gyros make it so stable in a hover that it is harder to get it to go forwards or backwards than it is to hover
*replacement parts (haven't needed any yet) seem to be cheap
*indoor flying characteristics are acceptable
*battery runs probably 6 to 8 minutes on approximately a 1 hr charge and that is a surprisingly satisfying amount of flight time
*plug and play video playback

What I Don't Like:
*a lot was lost in translation from Chinese to English on the instruction sheet
*the instructions are not intuitive or very clear (you have to think things through, fiddle with them, and figure them out on your own...the instruction sheet is like a vague treasure map, you do get something at the end but finding the "X" can be a pain!)
*for a 3.5 channel RC this helicopter should be able to fly forwards or backwards when I want it to (it doesn't, believe me)
*the gyros are great for hovering, but they appear to prevent any pitch attitude that would allow the helicopter to go forward or backwards
*if you hit the edge of radio range (I estimate this to be about 75 ft with mine) the helicopter starts to oscillate and fall towards the ground and even if you move within radio range it has never been able to recover before hitting the ground
*fly this over grass and objects that will break its fall, if you fly it over concrete or cement it will be history
*you have to fly relatively high for the camera to have a decent viewing angle and field of view (this is not adjustable)

Other things you need to consider:
*know that the LT-712 is the micro version and for a few bucks cheaper the LT-711 is basically the same, just a much bigger RC helicopter
*this thing is fragile and is not for someone who has no clue about or is not willing to tinker with delicate mechanical things

Bottom Line Part 2:
If you are thinking about buying a micro RC helicopter BUY THIS ONE. While it should probably be flown indoors most of the time the fun starts when you start looking in your neighbor's yard. With that it mind the camera is the main reason why you should buy this helicopter. Yeah, the helicopter isn't a strong enough flyer for outside, but if the weather cooperates (no wind or breeze whatsoever) you can get some pretty neat video shots. I wanted to rate this as a 4 star helicopter because of how it hovers but won't "fly," but I couldn't because for under $100 bucks you have an RC heli that can take video! Therefore, I have to rate it 5 stars. If you find a helicopter with better flight characteristics that has an equivalent or better video system integrated buy that one, even if it is a bit more money (I haven't found one but this one has made me start looking!)

4Fun to fly
By OsCarolB
Got the LT-712 in about a week from date of order. Fun to fly. It is about 14.1" long, 2.3"wide, 5.9"tall, light metal construction and plastic canopy & blades. It takes about 90 minutes of charge time for about 10 minutes of fly time. It has a 640x480 video camera mounted underneath with an insert for a 1gb micro SD card included. The SD card fits into a USB adapter (included) that plugs into a computer to view the video which records in AVI format. No extra main rotor blades but does have an extra tail rotor blade. Crashed it many times but on carpet so no damage. Have nicked the main rotor blades on furniture legs, so best to fly in an open area. When learning to fly, I recommend training gear to keep the blades from hitting the ground when it tips over. The training gear are 4 sticks in the form of an X, with ping pong balls on the ends and attached to the skids with wire ties, extending past the length of the blades. I got my training gear at a local hobby shop. The heli is not powerful enough to fly too high with the training gear on, so I'd only use it for the first few flights while learning to fly. It takes time & practice but hovers fairly well indoors. The heli likes to pull the left or the right even while hovering, so you will regularly be adjusting the trim on the transmitter or using small counter-weights. It can be flown outdoors but has a hard time if there is even a slight breeze. The telescopic antenna on the transmitter breaks easily, so need to be gentle when extending it. Transmitter has basic controls, left/right/fwd/back/fast/slow but has no output for simulators as on more expensive transmitters. The heli has a fixed pitch main rotor blade that uses the rear horizontal tail rotor to tip the nose up or down, making it go forward or backward. Other more expensive heli's use a collective pitch blade using the main blade itself to make it go fwd or back. Some collective pitch helis have more fly time as they use the pitch of the main blade to go up & down rather than the speed of the rotor which uses more of the battery. Overall I'm happy with this heli. Enjoy!

4LT-712 RC Helicopter
By Mike
This is a fun little coax helicopter. It is great for indoors, very stable and easy to fly. I wouldn't fly it outside unless you have little to no wind. The video quality suprised me, it was very good. It has survived a few crashes due to frequency loss, seems really durable.
